The game everyone was waiting for concluded, and India emerged victorious in a thriller. The game had everything in it, and both teams played superb cricket. Let’s summarize the game quickly.
1st Innings
Babar fell early, and then Pakistani batting struggled as it always does without Babar. Rizwan scored 43 off 42 and tried to keep things together but ended up playing too slow.
The middle order once again struggled as Khushdil, Shadab, and Asif could not add much value to the total. The tailenders came to the rescue as Rauf smashed Arshdeep for 2 fours in the same over. Dahani, who came in at #11, scored 16 off 6 with a couple of lusty blows.
As a result, Pakistan finished with 147, and that total looked below par. They were about 15 runs short.
2nd Innings
Without Shaheen, Pakistan was searching for a new ball bowler who could strike early. That’s what Naseem did exactly by dismissing Rahul on the 2nd ball of the innings. His first over almost became a nightmare for India as Kohli edged him to 2nd slip. But, Fakhar grassed the opportunity.
Pakistan kept India on the back foot in the powerplay as they scored under 7 an over. Now, it was the time for spinners to cash in, and Nawaz wasn’t going to let that chance go. He dismissed Rohit and Kohli in his consecutive overs, and India was in a spot of bother.
SYK and Jadeja were steading the ship, but Naseem returned to clean up SYK. Then came Pandya to the crease, who showed the intent from the word goes.
India needed 31 off the last 3 overs, and Naseem conceded a boundary first ball as only 4 fielders were allowed outside the circle. The worse thing for Pakistan was that he was suffering serious cramps. Still, he bowled four dots, but Jadeja managed to hit a 6 of a full ball. Now, 21 were needed off the last 12 as Rauf went short and conceded 14 in the over. Nawaz was given the ball in the final over, and he cleaned up Jadeja straightaway. The next 2 balls resulted in only a single. But then Pandya smashed a 6 to crush Pakistani hopes.
Wrap Up
Both teams fought hard and refused to give up till the last moment. The standout performer for Pakistan was Naseem Shah, who returned with the figures of 27 for 2 in 4 overs. Whereupon, Pandya proved to be the difference between the two sides. He scored 33* off 17 and took 3 wickets just for 25 runs in 4 overs.
