The stage is set for the clash of the Asian Titans on the 28th of August. Who’s gonna win the all-important game in Dubai? To know, read the article till the end.
When we talk about cricket, India and Pakistan are the 2 heavyweights in Asia. The arch-rivals will meet once again in the Asia Cup and will look to dominate each other.
Let’s analyze the strengths and weaknesses of both teams and know who has a better chance of winning.
India’s Strengths
All India’s top 6 batters are T20 superstars. The likes of Rohit, Rahul, and Kohli on top can provide a thumping start upfront. Meanwhile, Surya, Pant, and Pandya can be destructive in the middle order. So, their batting is as dangerous as it can get.
Moreover, Chahal and Jadeja also add to their strength. Jadeja has been in good touch with both bat and ball in hand. At the same time, Chahal is their go-to guy in middle overs.
India’s Weaknesses
Kohli and Rohit have not been in great form of the late, and Rahul is coming after a break. The top 3 are all big guns but not playing their best cricket.
Also, the pace battery looks pretty ordinary. Bhuvi will lead the attack, and he has a massive responsibility on his shoulders. Arshdeep and Avesh have potential, but it won’t be easy for them to settle in such a high-pressure game.
Pakistan’s Strengths
Their top 3 are their biggest strength. Rizwan and Babar are consistent performers, while Fakhar is a dangerous customer. Moreover, they have got depth in their batting. Khushdil and Asif have established finishers, and Nawaz coming at #8 shows that they bat deep.
Spin bowling is another strong area for them. Nawaz and Shadab are both seasoned T20 players and can bowl with immense control. Both are genuine wicket takers as well. Khushdil can also chip in with a couple of overs.
Naseem Shah adds to their strengths. He is quick and swings the new ball both ways. Dubai is known for the new ball swing, and what he offers could be hot to handle for the Indian top order.
Pakistan’s Weaknesses
Pakistan doesn’t have a reliable middle-order batsman in the squad. They will find it hard to get going in middle overs if they lose early wickets. They might miss Malik and Shan in this lineup.
Moreover, their bowling is highly inexperienced. Naseem will debut, and Dahani/Hasnain will play their 1st game against India. Rauf is the only guy with decent experience, but he is highly unpredictable.
Final Verdict
Both teams have their own strengths and weaknesses. Both are dangerous with lots of champion players, but with some flaws too.
India has got a slight edge due to more experienced players, but Pakistan is not far behind.
